Course Overview

Associate in Biblical Studies
LMI is a program leading to an Associate in Biblical Studies (ABi) degree that can be completed in 2 to 3 years depending on the student’s availability and other responsibilities. Core classes include the study of Theology, Bible, Ministry and selected topics in History, Sociology and Philosophy.

The Ministry and Mentorship program introduces the students to the seven ministry departments at Northwest Church, which are typical ministry areas in most local churches: Children, Youth, Congregational Life, Missions, Pastoral Care, Administration and Worship. The student may additionally focus in one of the ministry areas where they receive greater depth of experience and training.

Basic Overview of the LMI program
• New students may enter at the beginning of any quarter.
• Core curriculum minimum 500 hours and 250 hours of mentorship 
• Program is 74 credits minimum (54 minimum from 20 core classes).
• Program leads to an Associate in Biblical Studies (ABi) degree.
• Tuition ($110 per credit) and fees for the program without room and board is currently about $6,000 plus books.
• Scholarships are made available subject to demonstrated need and GPA.  
• Admission requires submission of an application, passing an English writing competency test and agreement to abide by the NWC Value Code and Foursquare statement of faith.
• LMI has an articulation agreement in place with Life Pacific College that provides for the transferability of credits.
• Room and partial board for full time students coming from outside the commuting zone is planned to begin in fall 2009.

Individual Mentoring 
In addition to formal core training a student will complete a mentorship in one or more of the ministry areas of Worship Arts, Congregational Life (includes: Pastor/Planter and Christian Education), Pastoral Care, Resource (Church Administration) and Outreach (Mission). Each student will be placed with a pastor/mentor who will work with the student. Mentoring hours will be distributed to cover actual practicum experience, specialized or directed study, and individual mentoring.
